Voting Precincts


Precincts are the basic geographical areas for organizing and administering elections. They are established by the governing body of each city or town, or by the county board in unorganized territories.

The list below summarizes major precinct changes since the 2022 general election as of October 15, 2024, Some of these, and many other smaller changes, are as a result of municipal boundary changes.

  • Carver County, City of Shorewood:
    • Changed precinct name to Shorewood P-4
  • Cass County, Lima Unorg:
    • Township dissolved, became unorganized territory
  • Chisago County, Chisago City:
    • Split into P-A and P-B
    • Added P-C from newly annexed territory
  • Chisago County, Lent Township:
    • Township entirely annexed by Stacy
  • Chisago County, Stacy City:
    • Existing precinct renamed W-1 P-1
    • Added W-2 P-2 from newly annexed territory (former Lent Township)
    • Precincts now also represent city wards
  • Dakota County, Empire City:
    • Empire Township incorporated as city
  • Douglas County, Ida Township:
  • Fillmore County, countywide:
    • Soil & Water Conservation Districts now elected by district instead of countywide
  • Hennepin County, City of Bloomington:
    • Part of W-2 P-10 transferred to W-2 P-13
  • Hennepin County, City of Chanhassen:
    • Deleted P-2 after territory annexed by Shorewood
  • Itasca County, Unorganized Territory:
    • Long Lake/McLeod precinct boundary adjusted to align with Northern Itasca Hospital District boundary
  • Itasca County, City of Taconite:
    • Merged two precincts into one
    • Changed name to remove P-1 from name of remaining precinct
  • McLeod County, Helen Township:
  • Ramsey County, City of Maplewood:
    • P-9/P-10 precinct boundary adjusted to accommodate legislative change to boundary of districts 44A and 44B
    • P-9 switched from 44B to 44A for same reason
  • Ramsey County, City of North St. Paul:
    • P-2 and P-4 switched from 44A to 44B to accommodate legislative change to boundary of districts 44A and 44B
  • Ramsey County, City of Saint Paul:
    • Adjusted boundaries of W-1 P-2 & W-1 P-7
    • Adjusted boundaries of W-2 P-3 & W-2 P-7
  • Redwood County, Township of Honner:
    • Deleted precinct after Honner Township merged with Paxton Township
  • Rice County, Webster Township:
    • Merged two precincts into one
    • Changed name to remove P-1 from name of remaining precinct
  • St. Louis County, City of Duluth:
    • Added P-35, split off from P-33
  • St. Louis County, City of Hibbing:
    • Renamed W-1 P-A to W-1
    • Merged W-2 P-A and W-2 P-B to form W-2
    • Merged W-3 P-A and W-3 P-B to form W-3
    • Merged W-4 P-A and W-4 P-B to form W-4
  • Scott County, City of Jordan:
    • Added P-3 due to annexation
  • Stearns County, City of St. Joseph:
    • Deleted P-3 after merged into P-1
  • Wadena County, Leaf River Township:
    • Merged two precincts into one
    • Changed name to remove P-1 from name of remaining precinct
  • Washington County, City of Cottage Grove:
    • Split off part of P-1 to create P-8
  • Wright County, City of Buffalo:
    • Split off parts of P-1 and P-3 to create P-4
  • Wright County, City of Otsego:
    • Split off parts of P3B and P4B to create P5B
