Service of Process

The Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State will accept and forward service of process for both domestic and foreign companies.

1.  If the company is filed with our office, but cannot be served at its registered office address, the document may be served upon our office by submitting the following:

• two copies of the document to be served
• an "Affidavit of Not Found" showing that service was attempted at the registered office address
• the applicable filing fee*

2.  When a company cannot be served due to the fact that it is not on file with our office, the document may be served upon our office by submitting the following:

• two copies of the document to be served
• an address must be provided where service of process can be mailed
• the applicable filing fee*

*Filing Fee: 

• if submitted by mail: $50 for Foreign Corporations / $35 for Minnesota Corporations and all other entity types
• if submitted by courier for expedited service: $70 for Foreign Corporations / $55 for Minnesota Corporations and all other entity types
