SAINT PAUL - On December 2, Secretary of State Steve Simon convened the State Canvassing Board to amend the 2024 General Election Canvassing Report to include new vote totals for House District 54A as certified by the Scott County Canvassing Board. The recount resulted in an increase of 6 votes for each candidate, maintaining the difference between candidates at 14 votes.
The canvassing board also received an update on a partial recount for House District 14B that was completed on November 25. As this contest took place in more than one county, it was overseen by the Office of the Minnesota Secretary of State, with the Sherburne County Auditor serving as the Deputy Recount Official. Ballots from three precincts were recounted and the losing candidate chose to waive the remainder of the recount.
Additionally, the canvassing board was notified that a partial recount for House District 48B in Carver County has been scheduled for December 5. As the contest is exclusively in Carver County, the recount will be overseen by the county. The recount will be limited to one precinct. After the recount is complete, the losing candidate may choose to waive the remainder of the recount or continue with a full recount of all precincts in the district at the candidate’s expense.
