Secretary Simon: We Must Remain Steadfast to Protecting Dr. King’s Voting Rights Legacy

SAINT PAUL — Today, Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon released the following statement in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 15th and Dr. King’s work to expand voting rights for millions of Americans.

“Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s enduring legacy in American life is an inspiration to everyone who works for equality and justice. Today, we are reminded of his work to ensure the rights guaranteed to us in law are available to all citizens, work that continues to this very day. As we celebrate Dr. King, we also honor his memory when we exercise our right to vote and when we remain vigilant to protect and strengthen that right.”

Tomorrow, Secretary Simon will attend the 28th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Breakfast at the Armory in Minneapolis.
